I felt the item description was untrue to its nature since it does not appear to be made from real leather - more like a plastic that is trying to look like leather. The construction is good and, from afar, it looks decent. I remain undecided as to whether the jewelry will make the case look expensive - or whether the case will make the jewelry look cheap...

After receiving a definitely subpar display box from the company, instead of rating the item low, I emailed the company explaining the problem. First I received a return email within a couple of hours, which still did not resolve the issue I was trying to describe. However, a couple of hours later, I received a phone call from a representative of the company (Stacey, perhaps?).It's been a while now, and I don't have time to consult my notes before responding to Amazon's questions.However, when I described the problem on the phone, the company's rep immediately sent me an email of the item now being reviewed (another display box--same price as first one). She agreed that the one I originally got had rather glaring defects,and she apologized. She said not to bother to send the original display box back. She sent the new one out immediately, priority mail, at no charge to us, even though I told her that I was no longer in a rush. (The occasion the display box had been bought as a gift for was now past.) The replacement item arrived, at the newly promised time, and it is beautiful!! It was delivered to the birthday girl Monday night, and she is now happy too! I rate this company five stars on everything now! Thanks!

The Dahlia Silky Embroidered Brocade Jewelry Travel Organizer is well constructed, being constructed of very soft and silky material, and very beautifully embroidered.It has one full length unzippered compartment, one half length zippered compartment, two 1/4 length zippered compartments, and a ring "finger" which holds rings securely.All zippered compartments seem secure.

This is a fine product as is, and well worth the $15-$22 each.But my wife has a couple of complaints/suggestions:

There is no way, as in some other jewelry travel cases, to hold fine-chained necklaces with pendants except in a zippered compartment, out of which they come tangled and knotted.

Likewise for earrings w/ posts, there is no way to store them except loosely in a zippered compartment, in which they can slosh back and forth during travel, and out of which it is more time-consuming to select the specific earrings desired to be worn.My wife doesn't like her earrings grinding against one another during travel.

If the manufacturer could put a small strip of thin plastic, w/10 pre-punched holes in it for earrings with posts, to hold five sets, in one of the small zippered compartments, (I made one out of cardboard) then posted earrings could be stored much more safely and securely, and specific earrings can be selected more easily.

In my opinion, if Dahlia can design these additional features into their product then it will become very close to being the almost perfect jewelry travel wrap, for posted earrings, rings and necklaces w/ pendants.

I have this exact jewelry case, just with a slightly different front metal clasp style on the front. It is from the same company (Mele and Co.) and same dome style and same organizing innards as the "Hilde".

The picture is true to what it looks like in person, except the color isn't quite as brown. It's more of a neutral beige. I like this color because it doesn't show dirt as easily and matches most home decors.

Again, I really love this jewelry box. The sueded fabric is soft, and having owned a lot of this type of fabric on my furniture, (couch and ottoman, etc.) I've found it is easy to clean.

I was looking for something to hold my dog's ashes in and this was way too small (5"w x4"d x 1 1/2"d) . I only have myself to blame for that as the measurements were listed. It is a handmade item so my heart box was shaped a bit wider than the one pictured. The felt inside is brown and a bit simple, but otherwise I could imaging it being a sweet gift for a loved one. In ancient Egypt, several species of the dung beetle, most notably the Scarabaeus sacer (often referred to as the "sacred scarab"), enjoyed a sacred status. The heiroglyphic image of the beetle represents a trilateral phonetic that Egyptologists translate as "to come into being", "to become", or "to transform".

Excavations of ancient Egyptian archaeological sites have uncovered images of the scarab created from stone, ivory, bone, precious metals, and Egyptian faience, dating from the Sixth Dynasty and up to the period of Roman rule. The scarabs are generally small, bored to allow stringing on jewelry, and bearing a brief inscription or cartouche on the base. Some have been used as seals. Pharaohs would occasionally commission the manufacture of larger images with detailed inscriptions, such as the commemorative scarab of Queen Tiye. Massive sculptures of scarabs can be seen at various locations in Egypt, such as at Luxor Temple, and at the Serapeum in Alexandria.

The drawers do not slide properly on mine.They have a tendency to jam and hang up.The company's return policy requires the customer to pay return shipping costs for even defective merchandise.This item is quite heavy for it's size so it would be quite expensive to return.They also charge a 15% re-stocking fee, so you are essentially paying them to take back defective merchandise.

Just recently used during a trip, and it worked great. Packed very well in my carry on bag. I didn't have to worry about losing my rings or necklaces. All my jewelry was well protected by the soft interior lining on the case. Compartments are kind of small. It will not fit large chunky jewelry (such as bangle bracelets or oversized rings or pendants), just traditional rings and necklaces.
