This box is really amazing! It looks just like a piece of wood and there is not way to open it (there is no key hole or any obvious locks). But as you examin it you see that some of the parts of the box can be moved and that is the secret of the box. Moving one part at a time you can open it. Very clever mechanism!I got my first box long time ago and am a big fan of them (I have the whole collection at home). These boxes are truely unique and even nowadays they are handmade in Japan's Hakone region (this seller, BeneGifts, has a great article about Yosegi making and history of puzzle boxes on their web-site).
It is a great gift also (I gave these boxes to some of my friends - they loved it).
